Book World Party

World Party was the musical vehicle of Welsh songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger, who launched the project in London in 1985 after his time with the Waterboys. Wallinger was its one constant member, crafting much of the music himself, while musicians such as Guy Chambers, Chris Sharrock, David Catlin-Birch, Jeff Trott, Amanda Kramer and John Turnbull took part at various points. The project produced five studio albums: Private Revolution (1986), Goodbye Jumbo (1990), Bang! (1993), Egyptology (1997) and Dumbing Up (2000). Its best-loved singles include "Ship of Fools," "Way Down Now," "Put the Message in the Box" and "Is It Like Today?" World Party also released the original version of "She's the One," which Robbie Williams later turned into a major hit. The project was honored at the Ivor Novello Awards and received a Grammy nomination. Before World Party, Wallinger played keyboards in the Waterboys and had trained in piano and oboe as a child. Rich in melody and studio craft, the World Party catalog remains a favorite of discerning pop and rock fans.
