Book The Romantics
The Romantics are a power-pop and new wave band from Detroit that formed in 1977, inspired by 1950s rock and roll and the city's own garage tradition. Singer and guitarist Wally Palmar and guitarist Mike Skill lead the group today, with bassist Rich Cole and others in the lineup. Their 1979 self-titled debut included the party anthem "What I Like About You," which has been played at sporting events, in films and on commercials ever since. They followed with National Breakout and Strictly Personal, then achieved their biggest radio success with In Heat and its hit "Talking in Your Sleep." Rhythm Romance, 61/49, Visited By The 80s and Baladas Para Bailar Pegados continued the story, eight albums in all. Palmar and Skill were both founding members of the band, together with bassist Rich Cole and drummer Jimmy Marinos.
