Book Des'ree
Des'ree is a British pop and soul singer-songwriter whose rich contralto and uplifting lyrics made her one of the defining voices of the 1990s. Signed by Sony 550 in 1991, she released her debut single "Feel So High" that year and her first album, Mind Adventures, in 1992, touring as the opening act for Simply Red. She teamed with Terence Trent D'Arby on "Delicate" and sang for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican's first Christmas concert of secular music in 1993. Her breakthrough came with the empowering anthem "You Gotta Be," which climbed to number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was VH1's most-played video of 1994, from the album I Ain't Movin' (1994). Des'ree followed with Supernatural (1998), the feel-good hit "Life," and the tender ballad "Kissing You," featured in the 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. Further albums include Endangered Species (2000), Dream Soldier (2003) and A Love Story (2019). She took home the Best British Female prize at the Brit Awards in 1999 and has also received an Ivor Novello Award, a World Music Award and four BMI Awards. Des'ree delivers soulful, positive performances full of timeless hits.
