Stereophonics hail from the Cynon Valley village of Cwmaman, a Welsh rock trio founded in 1992 and led by singer, guitarist and songwriter Kelly Jones with bassist Richard Jones and drummer Jamie Morrison. Their 1997 debut Word Gets Around contained "A Thousand Trees" and "Local Boy in the Photograph," and the band continued with Performance and Cocktails and Just Enough Education to Perform, with "Have a Nice Day." You Gotta Go There to Come Back followed with "Maybe Tomorrow," and Language. Sex. Violence. Other? included "Dakota." Later albums such as Pull the Pin, Keep Calm and Carry On, Graffiti on the Train, Keep the Village Alive, Scream Above the Sounds, Kind and Oochya! bring the total to thirteen, with Make 'em Laugh, Make 'em Cry, Make 'em Wait in 2025. Their gigs are anthemic and huge, with arena-ready choruses and Jones's gritty voice.
