Book Sleaford Mods
Sleaford Mods are a post-punk duo from Nottingham, England, built around the snarling vocals of Jason Williamson and the stripped-back beats of Andrew Fearn. Williamson started the project in 2007 after years of chasing music in other groups and as a solo act, naming it after Sleaford, a Lincolnshire town near his hometown of Grantham. Fearn, whom he met in 2009 after catching his minimal, grime-influenced DJ set at a small Nottingham club, joined in 2012, first appearing on the album Wank. Since then the pair have released a run of acclaimed records, including Austerity Dogs (2013), Divide and Exit (2014), Key Markets (2015), English Tapas (2017), Eton Alive (2019), Spare Ribs (2021) and The Demise of Planet X (2026), with English Tapas arriving after they signed with Rough Trade Records in 2016. Their music pairs bare loops with furious, funny and pointed lyrics about work, class and everyday life, delivered in Williamson's broad East Midlands accent. Live, Sleaford Mods are famously minimal and fiercely energetic: one man pressing play, another spitting verses, and a crowd that knows every word.
