Book Sizzla
Sizzla, also known as Sizzla Kalonji, is a Jamaican reggae artist born Miguel Orlando Collins in St. Mary and raised in August Town, Kingston. He built his style on the Caveman Hi-Fi sound system, began recording in 1995 and teamed up with the Xterminator family of Philip "Fatis" Burrell, touring widely with the label's roots artist Luciano. His debut album, Burning Up, arrived in 1995, followed by Praise Ye Jah in 1997 and and, the same year, Black Woman & Child, whose title track became a reggae anthem. Hotter Than Fire and Freedom Cry came in 1998, then Royal Son of Ethiopia in 1999, Bobo Ashanti and Liberate Yourself in 2000, Black History and Rastafari Teach I Everything in 2001, Da Real Thing in 2002 and Jah Warrior in 2004. He is a prolific reggae artist with a catalog numbering in the dozens of albums and a place as a leading contemporary voice. Sizzla's raspy, urgent delivery and conscious lyrics fuel commanding live performances that unite roots reggae and dancehall.
