Book Maxi Priest
Maxi Priest, born Max Alfred Elliott, is a reggae vocalist from Britain with Jamaican roots whose music joins reggae with R&B in a style often called reggae fusion. His career began on the South London sound system Saxon Studio International, and early independent releases such as "Sensi" won him a following among dancehall and roots audiences. His first album, You're Safe, came out in 1985, and in 1986 he recorded a version of "Crazy Love" with members of Aswad and other London reggae figures. Intentions followed in 1986, and his breakthrough, Maxi, in 1987, along with his cover of "Wild World" recorded with Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. Later albums include Bonafide in 1990, Fe Real in 1992, Man With the Fun in 1996, Combination in 1999, 2 the Max in 2005, Refused in 2007, Easy to Love in 2014, It All Comes Back To Love in 2019 and United State of Mind in 2021, twelve in total. He has three Grammy nominations, including one for Best Reggae Album in 1994. Priest's silky vocals and romantic songs make his shows warm and melodic.
