Book Sister Sledge
Sister Sledge is a vocal group formed in Philadelphia in 1965 by the Sledge sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy, whose music draws on R&B, disco, pop and Philly soul. After performing at talent shows and clubs, they signed with Atco Records, an Atlantic imprint, in 1972 and landed two top 10 dance songs, "Love Don't You Go Through No Changes on Me" in 1974 and "Pain Reliever" in 1975. Their breakout came with We Are Family in 1979, which delivered "He's the Greatest Dancer," "Lost in Music" and the title track, and Love Somebody Today followed in 1980. Other albums include Circle of Love (1975), Together (1977), All American Girls (1981), The Sisters (1982), Bet Cha Say That to All the Girls (1983), When the Boys Meet the Girls (1985), African Eyes (1997) and Style (2003). They scored again with "My Guy" in 1982 and signed with Epic Records in 1992. The group earned a Grammy nomination in 1979, and its work entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007. Debbie Sledge leads the group on stage today as Sister Sledge ft. Sledgendary, joined by the next generation of the Sledge family.
