Book The Dramatics
The Dramatics are a Detroit soul vocal group whose lush harmonies and heartfelt ballads made them one of the great R&B acts of the 1970s. First formed in 1964 as the Sensations and renamed in 1965, the group found its classic sound on Stax's Volt label, scoring the Top 10 pop smashes "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" and "In the Rain," along with "Toast to the Fool." Their catalog runs deep, from A Dramatic Experience (1973), Dramatically Yours (1974) and the head-to-head The Dells vs. The Dramatics (1974) to The Dramatic Jackpot (1975), Drama V (1975), Joy Ride (1976), Shake It Well (1977), Do What You Wanna Do (1978) and Anytime, Anyplace (1979). They kept recording through 10½ (1980), New Dimension (1982), Somewhere in Time (A Dramatic Reunion) (1986), Stone Cold (1990), Mellow Drama (1994) and Look Inside (2001). A new generation discovered them through "Doggy Dogg World," their 1993 collaboration with Snoop Dogg, which became a top 20 Rhythmic hit. The group entered the R&B Music Hall of Fame in 2013. Live, The Dramatics deliver smooth choreography, rich vocal blend and a set of timeless soul classics.
