Book Sandra McCracken

Sandra McCracken is an independent singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee, whose music draws on folk, gospel and hymn traditions to blend storytelling with scripture. Raised in St. Louis, she harmonized in the church choir, played piano and wrote hymns for her congregation as a child, then began her professional career once she finished at Belmont University in 1999. She is a founding member of the Nashville-based Indelible Grace artist collective and has written or co-written songs for Caedmon's Call, Derek Webb, All Sons & Daughters and Audrey Assad. Her early independent albums, The Crucible and Gypsy Flat Road (2001), were followed by Best Laid Plans (2004), which yielded the radio singles "Last Goodbye" and "No More Tears", and the hymn album The Builder and the Architect (2005). Her catalog of fifteen studio albums also includes Red Balloon (2008), In Feast or Fallow (2010), Desire Like Dynamite (2013), Psalms (2015), Songs From the Valley (2018), Patient Kingdom (2020) and Carry Each Other (2022). Her album Light in the Canyon took home a GMA Dove Award in 2023 in the bluegrass, country and roots album category. In concert she offers graceful, contemplative songs and congregational warmth.
