Book Ryley Walker
Ryley Walker is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Rockford, Illinois, whose restless, fingerpicked music bridges folk, jazz, psychedelia and experimental rock. Citing Genesis and Nick Drake as early touchstones, he emerged from Chicago's independent scene in the early 2010s with a run of cassette and vinyl EPs. His 2014 debut on Tompkins Square was followed by Primrose Green (2015) on Dead Oceans, cut with noted Chicago jazz and avant-garde players. That same year he and guitarist Bill MacKay released Land of Plenty, an instrumental set captured live during a residency at The Whistler in Chicago, and the pair later issued Spiderbeetlebee (2017) on Drag City. Walker's solo path continued with Golden Sings That Have Been Sung (2016), Deafman Glance (2018), The Lillywhite Sessions (2018) and Course in Fable (2021), among a catalog of over twenty albums and collaborations. On stage he is a dazzling guitarist, stretching songs into long, improvised journeys full of raga-inspired blues and psychedelic textures.
