Book Ready for the World
Ready for the World is a R&B band from Flint, Michigan, that delivered a string of pop, soul and dance hits during the mid-to-late 1980s. Founded by Melvin Riley and Gordon Strozier, the group reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the U.S. dance chart, marking it as one of the standout R&B acts of the decade. Their self-titled debut, Ready for the World (1985), was followed by Long Time Coming (1986), Ruff 'N' Ready (1988) and Straight Down to Business (1991). In 1986 the band earned an American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Band/Duo/Group nomination. The catalog later grew with Freak The World (1996), She Said She Wants Some (2004) and Ready Sonique (2025), and the hits were gathered on Oh Sheila! Ready for the World's Greatest Hits in 1993 and on a 20th Century Masters collection in 2002. Ready for the World brings smooth vocals, Midwest funk and a set full of 1980s favorites to the stage.
