Book Cody Chesnutt
Cody Chesnutt is an Atlanta-born R&B and neo-soul musician whose music weaves together soul, funk, rock, blues and hip-hop. After moving to Los Angeles, he wrote and produced songs for the R&B group Six Feet Deep and played in the band The Crosswalk before striking out on his own. His 2002 double album The Headphone Masterpiece, recorded on a four-track cassette machine in his home studio, became a cult classic, and that same year The Roots reworked its song "The Seed" as "The Seed (2.0)" on their album Phrenology, with Chesnutt singing and playing guitar on the track and appearing in its widely aired video. In 2003 he was nominated for the Shortlist Music Prize and a MTV2 Award, and he performed at the Shortlist ceremony at the Wiltern Theatre. He appeared in the 2006 documentary Dave Chappelle's Block Party and contributed "Boils" to the 4AD compilation Plague Songs. His later albums Landing on a Hundred (2012) and My Love Divine Degree (2017) deepened his soulful sound. Chesnutt is a passionate, spirited live performer with real vocal grit.
