Book Lakeside
Lakeside is an American funk band rooted in Dayton, Ohio, best known for the 1980 No. 1 R&B smash "Fantastic Voyage." The group traces its beginnings to 1969, when guitarist Stephen Shockley formed the Young Underground, later merging with vocalist Mark Wood's band the Nomads to become Ohio Lakeside Express. Promoter Dick Griffey took the band under his wing in 1975, and vocalist Otis Stokes and percussionist Fred Lewis joined along the way. Their recordings began with Lakeside (1977), Shot of Love (1978) and Rough Riders (1979) before Fantastic Voyage (1980) made them a funk institution. The catalog grew across Keep On Moving Straight Ahead (1981), Your Wish Is My Command (1981), Untouchables (1983), Outrageous (1984), Power (1987) and Party Patrol (1990). Decades on, "Fantastic Voyage" remains a party anthem known well beyond funk circles. Lakeside brings a deep catalog of tight funk grooves and an all-time dance-floor favorite to any stage.
