Book Atlantic Starr
Atlantic Starr is the American R&B band from White Plains, New York, behind the classic love songs "Always," "Secret Lovers" and "Masterpiece." The group took shape in Greenburgh, New York, around three brothers, David, Wayne and Jonathan Lewis, and played the Los Angeles club circuit as Newban before A&M Records executive Herb Alpert asked them to adopt a new name; they chose Atlantic Starr to honor their East Coast roots. Their self-titled debut, Atlantic Starr (1978), launched a run of R&B hits through the late 1970s and early 1980s on albums including Straight to the Point (1979), Radiant (1981) with "Circles," Brilliance (1982) with "Silver Shadow," and Yours Forever (1983). Pop crossover arrived with As the Band Turns (1985) and its single "Secret Lovers," and All in the Name of Love (1987) delivered the wedding staple "Always." Later releases include We're Movin' Up (1989), Love Crazy (1991) with "Masterpiece," Time (1994), All Because Of You (1998), Legacy (1999) and Metamorphosis (2017). Atlantic Starr brings smooth vocal harmonies, polished musicianship and a set of romantic slow jams and grooves.
