Book Paul Romer

Paul Romer is an American economist and policy entrepreneur whose ideas changed how the world thinks about the sources of long-run prosperity. He shared the 2018 Nobel prize in economics with William Nordhaus for his work on endogenous growth theory, which explains how new ideas, which can be shared without being used up, drive economic progress. Romer was the World Bank's chief economist and now holds the Seidner University Professorship in Finance at Boston College. Over his career he has taught at New York University, the University of Chicago, the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford's Graduate School of Business and the University of Rochester, and he has been affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Hoover Institution and the Center for Global Development. He founded the education technology company Aplia and coined the term "mathiness" to describe the misuse of math in economic research. Time named him among America's 25 most influential people in 1997, and his honors include the H. C. Recktenwald Prize in Economics (2002) and the John R. Commons Award.
