Book Nancy Whang

Singer, keyboard player and DJ Nancy Whang helped shape the sound of New York dance-punk as a longtime member of LCD Soundsystem and the electronic group The Juan MacLean. Widely credited as a founding member of LCD Soundsystem, she emerged from the circle around DFA Records in New York, where she became a key figure in the label's early years, adding synthesizers, keyboards and vocals to its flagship acts. In LCD Soundsystem she plays synths and keys and sings alongside James Murphy and the rest of the band, touring the world and performing at major festivals, on Saturday Night Live and at the group's farewell and reunion concerts at Madison Square Garden. With The Juan MacLean, the DFA project led by John MacLean, she has been a core member from its early releases, sharing lead vocals and fronting the album In a Dream. Her voice also appears as a featured or backing vocal on tracks by Soulwax, Munk, Holy Ghost!, Classixx and Idles, and she has released solo recordings of her own. Whang also tours internationally as a DJ, bringing deep dance-music knowledge and infectious energy to clubs and festival stages.
