Book King Crimson
King Crimson were the English progressive rock band led by guitarist and composer Robert Fripp, the one member present across their entire history, and their 1969 debut, In the Court of the Crimson King, became a cornerstone of the genre with "21st Century Schizoid Man." Fripp formed the group in London in 1968 with drummer Michael Giles, singer and bassist Greg Lake, multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald and lyricist Peter Sinfield. After the original lineup split, Fripp rebuilt the band around drummer Bill Bruford, bassist John Wetton, violinist David Cross and percussionist Jamie Muir, producing Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black and Red. A 1981 return with Adrian Belew and Tony Levin brought Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair, and the 1990s "double trio" made THRAK. The ConstruKction of Light and The Power to Believe followed in the 2000s. From 2013 the band toured as a seven- and then eight-piece with three drummers at the front of the stage, reworking material from their whole catalog, before closing out with a December 2021 tour of Japan. Drawing on classical, jazz, folk, metal and gamelan, they influenced Yes and Genesis and earned two Grammy nominations.
