Book Jimmie's Chicken Shack
Jimmie's Chicken Shack is an alternative rock band from Annapolis, Maryland, best known for the radio favorites "High" and "Do Right." The group came up on the Baltimore club circuit in the early 1990s, cutting the cassette releases Chicken Scratch (1993) and Spit Burger Lottery (1994), which were later combined on the CD 2 For 1, and releasing the live record Giving Something Back through Fowl Records, the label member Jimi Haha helped start. In 1996 the band signed with Elton John's Rocket Records and issued two major-label albums, Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope (1997) and Bring Your Own Stereo (1999), earning airplay and MTV exposure with singles including "High," "Dropping Anchor," "Blood" and "Another Day." After leaving that deal, they kept recording on their own terms with Re.Present (2004), Fail on Cue (2008) and 2econds (2022). Fronted by the charismatic Jimi Haha, Jimmie's Chicken Shack brings a loose, funky, guitar-heavy show that mixes grit, groove and humor, reviving the spirit of late-'90s alternative radio for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
