Jim Belushi & The Board of Comedy is an improvised sketch comedy show led by actor and comedian Jim Belushi, a Saturday Night Live alum who came up through Chicago's Second City. Nothing is scripted. The cast asks the audience for suggestions to launch each scene, then builds the comedy on the spot, and sometimes pulls audience members onstage to join in. Belushi describes it as less a show than a party, and says the format takes him back to how he first started in comedy. The Board of Comedy is a troupe of trained improvisers who tour nationally. Megan Grano and director Joshua Funk are both Second City alums, and Larry Joe Campbell spent eight seasons alongside Belushi on the ABC sitcom According to Jim, which ran for 182 episodes. Brad Morris has also appeared with the group, and the supporting cast can vary by date. The troupe has played theaters and benefit events, including a 2014 fundraiser for the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, and it fits corporate events, galas and private parties that want interactive comedy rather than a stand-up set.
