A Philadelphia native, he began performing at 13 and trained in voice at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance. His first Broadway role was Marius in Les Misérables, a role he first played in the original U.S. national tour. Panaro went on to originate Buddy in Side Show and Julian in Jule Styne's final musical, The Red Shoes, and played Ravenal in Harold Prince's Show Boat on Broadway, in Toronto and in his West End debut in London. At Avery Fisher Hall he appeared in Jerry Herman's Mack and Mabel with the Radio City Rockettes. Off-Broadway, he starred as the title character in a 2018 staging of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and in 2025 he returned as the Phantom in an immersive New York production. Earlier regional credits include Chicago and Jesus Christ Superstar. In concert, Panaro brings a soaring Broadway tenor and the dramatic command of a true leading man to the great musical theater songbook.
