Alexandre Desplat is a French composer and conductor who has written scores for some of the most celebrated films of the past two decades. He has won two Oscars for his original scores to The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Shape of Water, plus three BAFTAs, a pair of Golden Globes and two Grammys, one of them the 2015 Grammy for score soundtrack for visual media. He earned Oscar nominations for The Queen and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, among other films. France has honored him as a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2011 and as an Officer of the National Order of Merit and a Commander of Arts and Letters, both in 2016, and he won the European Film Award for Best Composer in 2007 and 2010.
