Ghostland Observatory is an Austin, Texas duo that mixes electro, rock and funk into a sound often dubbed electro-dance soul rock. Frontman Aaron Behrens handles vocals and occasional guitar, while Thomas Ross Turner works the drums and synthesizers. Their debut album, delete.delete.i.eat.meat..., came out in 2005 on Turner's own Trashy Moped Recordings, followed by Paparazzi Lightning in January 2006. In 2007 they made their national TV debut performing "Sad Sad City" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, appeared on Austin City Limits, released the live DVD Live from Austin, TX, and were named band of the year by the Austin American-Statesman. Robotique Majestique arrived in 2008, and its release party featured the University of Texas marching band joining the duo for a lights-out performance of "The Band Marches On." They played the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2006, 2007 and 2009, and have appeared at Coachella and the Voodoo Experience. Later albums include Codename: Rondo (2010), See You Later Simulator (2018) and Vultures (2021). Ghostland Observatory is famous for a laser-drenched live show and Behrens' magnetic, high-energy stage presence.
