Book Frankie Avalon
Frankie Avalon is an American singer, actor and original teen idol whose hits defined late-1950s pop. Between 1958 and 1962 he placed 31 singles on the Billboard charts, including two number ones: "Venus," which held the top spot for five straight weeks in 1959, and "Why," the first chart-topper of the 1960s. Other hits included "Just Ask Your Heart," "I'll Wait for You," "Bobby Sox to Stockings" and "A Boy Without a Girl." A gifted trumpet player, he first appeared on network television in 1952 on The Jackie Gleason Show and as a teen he performed alongside Bobby Rydell in the group Rocco and the Saints. On screen, Avalon became a star of the 1960s Beach Party films, took a supporting role in John Wayne's The Alamo (1960) and appeared in The Castilian (1963). A new generation discovered him in Grease (1978), where he sang "Beauty School Dropout" as the Teen Angel. He has recorded 19 studio albums and earned a Grammy nomination. Avalon brings classic hits, easy charm and a living link to the golden age of rock and roll.
