Book Cheech & Chong
Cheech & Chong are the comedy team of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, the duo who turned counterculture humor into a mainstream phenomenon. They first teamed up in Vancouver in 1969, when Marin joined Chong's improv troupe City Works, and they were such a hit warming up a crowd that they never gave the stage back. Moving to Los Angeles, they became a force in the 1970s and 1980s through stand-up, hit comedy records and feature films built around hippie-era culture and their love of cannabis. Classic bits and songs include "Earache My Eye," "Basketball Jones," "Sister Mary Elephant" and "Santa Claus and His Old Lady," and the catchphrase "Dave's not here" came from their debut album. Their record Los Cochinos won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Recording, part of a run of six Grammy nominations. They lent voices to Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark and appeared on a Hoyt Axton single, and their first movie, Up in Smoke (1978), became a box office success that spawned a string of films. Onstage the pair bring decades of chemistry, beloved characters and songs, and laughs that cross generations.
