Book Burton Cummings
Burton Cummings is a Canadian singer, pianist and songwriter who fronted the Guess Who during its most successful decade, from 1965 to 1975. With guitarist Randy Bachman he wrote for the band, and American Woman (1970) made them the first Canadian band with a chart-topping single in the US. He launched a solo career with Burton Cummings (1976), a top ten album in Canada that included the hit "Stand Tall," and was named best male vocalist at the Juno Awards in 1977. My Own Way to Rock (1977), Dream of a Child (1978), Woman Love (1980), Sweet Sweet (1981), Heart (1984) and Plus Signs (1990) followed, along with the solo-piano live set Up Close and Alone (1997), Above the Ground (2008) and A Few Good Moments (2024). He has won the Juno Award for Album of the Year and won a second Juno for Woman Love. Cummings is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Order of Manitoba, with places in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and on Canada's Walk of Fame, and a Winnipeg theatre bears his name. He is a commanding vocalist and showman at the piano.
