Book Barrington Levy
Barrington Levy is a reggae and dancehall vocalist from Clarendon, Jamaica, whose high, piercing tenor made him a defining voice of the dancehall era. Working with producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes and the Roots Radics band, he released a run of albums that includes Bounty Hunter, Englishman, Shine Eye Gal and Shaolin Temple in 1979, Robin Hood in 1980 and Run Come Ya! in 1981. Signature songs include "Under Mi Sensi" and "Here I Come", and the latter became a foundation for countless later tracks. He played Reggae Sunsplash in 1980 and 1981, and across 25 studio albums has kept building that catalog, including Living Dangerously with Bounty Killer and Snoop Dogg in 1998. His acoustic set Acousticalevy earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Reggae Album category for 2016. In 2021 he sang on the Gorillaz track "Meanwhile", and Rolling Stone placed him at No. 119 in its 2023 ranking of the 200 greatest singers.
