Yung Bans is a rapper from St. Louis, Missouri, born Vas Coleman, who emerged from the SoundCloud generation of melodic hip-hop. He started rhyming in sixth grade as Ban Boy and committed to music in high school after first chasing basketball. His first single, "4Tspoon," was a 2015 collaboration with Playboi Carti, and that same year he appeared alongside Ski Mask the Slump God on XXXTentacion's "ILOVEITWHENTHEYRUN." He also featured on Smokepurpp's "Damage" in 2016. His best-known track is the 2017 single "Lonely" featuring Lil Skies. His profile rose with the EP series that began with Yung Bans and Yung Bans Vol. 2 in December 2017 and continued through Yung Bans Vol. 3, Yung Bans Vol. 4 and Yung Bans Vol. 5 in 2018, plus "Ridin" with YBN Nahmir and Landon Cube. His debut studio album, Misunderstood, arrived in 2019, and he returned in 2025 with BEFORE RR, REAL ROCKSTAR (B4RR) and Mudd Bruddas.
