Book Hobo Johnson
Hobo Johnson is an American vocalist, rapper and the frontman of Hobo Johnson & the LoveMakers, known for raw, funny and heartfelt songs that blend hip-hop with spoken word and indie rock. Born Frank Lopes Jr., he began performing hip-hop at 15 and settled on his stage name during a stretch when his 1994 Toyota Corolla was his home; that car also lent its name to his 2015 debut, Hobo Johnsons 94 Corolla. He followed with The Rise of Hobo Johnson, first released independently in 2016 and reworked in 2017, after which he signed with Reprise Records and swept four Sacramento Area Music Awards, including Artist of the Year. His breakthrough came in 2018 when the band's entry in NPR's Tiny Desk Contest, "Peach Scone," racked up millions of views in a matter of weeks and pushed his album onto Billboard's Heatseekers chart. He has since released The Fall of Hobo Johnson (2019), The Revenge Of Hobo Johnson (2021), Hobo Johnson Alienates His Fanbase (2021) and HOBO JOHNSON DRINKS! (2025). His live shows are cathartic, unpredictable singalongs full of confessional storytelling and a fiercely devoted audience.
