Book Wendi McLendon-Covey

Wendi McLendon-Covey is an American actress and comedian whose sharp improv instincts have made her one of television's most reliable comic leads. A Long Beach, California native, she sharpened her craft for years with The Groundlings, the celebrated Los Angeles improv troupe, while breaking through as Deputy Clementine Johnson on Reno 911! (2003). Audiences know her best as Beverly Goldberg, the family matriarch at the center of the ABC family comedy The Goldbergs, a role she played for ten years from 2013 and one that brought her two Critics' Choice Television Award nominations. Her scene-stealing turn in Bridesmaids (2011) opened the door to a run of big-screen comedies including Blended (2014), Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015), What Men Want (2019) and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021), and she appeared in Elemental (2023). She also earned a MTV Movie Award in 2012, showed dramatic range in Blush (2019), and appeared in History of the World, Part II. She now plays Joyce on St. Denis Medical, the NBC workplace mockumentary that premiered in 2024. Live, she brings quick wit, warmth and genuine improv chops to any room.
