Book Tom Waits
Tom Waits is a singer, songwriter, composer and actor from Pomona, California, whose gravel-voiced, theatrical songs about outsiders and late-night streets have earned decades of devotion. Beginning with Closing Time in 1973, he wrote "Ol' 55," "Jersey Girl" and "Downtown Train," which became hits for Eagles, Bruce Springsteen and Rod Stewart. A bold shift to experimental sounds began with Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs, followed by Bone Machine, Mule Variations, Real Gone and Bad as Me. He earned an Oscar nomination for his score for One from the Heart, has acted in Down by Law, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and Licorice Pizza, and has won Grammys. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Bone Machine won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, and Mule Variations won Best Contemporary Folk Album.
