Book The Pretenders
The Pretenders entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, honored for a catalog that includes "Brass in Pocket," "Kid," "Talk of the Town," "I Go to Sleep," "Back on the Chain Gang," "Don't Get Me Wrong" and "I'll Stand by You." Formed in London in 1978 by Akron, Ohio, native Chrissie Hynde, the band's founder, singer, rhythm guitarist and chief songwriter, the original lineup featured James Honeyman-Scott on lead guitar, Pete Farndon on bass and Martin Chambers on drums. Their 1980 debut, Pretenders, earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and Pretenders II and Learning to Crawl followed even after the deaths of Honeyman-Scott and Farndon reshaped the group. Hynde, the only continuous member, has led the band through Get Close, Last of the Independents, ¡Viva el amor!, Loose Screw, Break Up the Concrete and Alone. In the 2020s the Pretenders released Hate for Sale (2020) and Relentless (2023) and played the 2022 Wembley tribute to Taylor Hawkins, where Dave Grohl sat in on bass.
