Book State Champs
State Champs are the Albany, New York pop-punk band whose 2013 debut album, The Finer Things, opened at number two on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and made them one of the genre's leading new names. Lead singer Derek DiScanio and lead guitarist Tyler Szalkowski formed the group in the spring of 2010, and their early demos were reworked for Apparently, I'm Nothing, released in Japan in 2011. Interest in a demo of "Critical" in 2012 led to a record deal and management, and the band signed with Pure Noise Records, its label ever since. After the acoustic EP The Acoustic Things in 2014, they released Around the World and Back in October 2015, later expanded with a deluxe edition, followed by Living Proof (2018), Kings of the New Age (2022) and a self-titled fifth album in November 2024. Constant touring across North America, Europe, Japan and Australia, including the Warped Tour, built a loyal following. Their sound combines big, hook-filled choruses with fast, punchy guitars, and their high-energy sets are built around fans singing along to every word.
