Book Pam Shriver

Pam Shriver is an American tennis champion, broadcaster and coach whose doubles partnership with Martina Navratilova ranks with the most dominant in the history of the sport. She burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old amateur at the 1978 US Open, upsetting reigning Wimbledon champion Navratilova in the semifinals before reaching the final. Over the following two decades Shriver climbed to world No. 3 in singles and No. 1 in doubles, collecting 133 tour titles in all, with 112 coming in doubles and 21 in singles. Her haul includes 22 major championships: 21 women's doubles crowns plus one mixed doubles title. In 1984 she and Navratilova swept all four majors, the only women's pair ever to complete a calendar-year Grand Slam. She added an Olympic gold medal in women's doubles at the 1988 Seoul Games alongside Zina Garrison and represented the United States in both Wightman Cup and Billie Jean King Cup play. Shriver received the Sarah Palfrey Danzig Award in 1986 and entered the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2002. Today she is a respected television analyst who brings championship insight, quick wit and warmth to any audience.
