Book Nils Frahm
Nils Frahm is the Berlin-based composer, pianist and producer known for joining classical piano and electronic music in a single live setup, surrounding a grand piano with upright pianos, a Rhodes, a Roland Juno-60, drum machines and Moog Taurus pedals. Raised near Hamburg, he studied classical piano for eight years with Nahum Brodsky before choosing studio work over an orchestral career and moving to Berlin in 2006. The solo piano records Wintermusik and The Bells drew early attention, and Felt (2011) brought critical acclaim. Spaces (2013), compiled from concert recordings, captured the improvising spirit of his shows, and All Melody (2018) became a landmark of his catalog. His score for the film Victoria won a German Film Award, and he has collaborated with Ólafur Arnalds on Trance Frendz, with Woodkid, and with Frederic Gmeiner and Sebastian Singwald in the trio Nonkeen. He also founded Piano Day, an annual celebration of the instrument held on the 88th day of the year. His productive recent run includes Music for Animals (2022), Day (2024), and Night and Handling (2025).
