Book Mitski
Mitski Miyawaki, who records simply as Mitski, is an American singer-songwriter and musician born Mitsuki Laycock in 1990. She released her first two albums herself, Lush in 2012 and Retired from Sad, New Career in Business in 2013, while she studied composition at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College. Bury Me at Makeout Creek came out on Double Double Whammy in 2014, and she then moved to a larger label for Puberty 2 in 2016, Be the Cowboy in 2018 and The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We in 2023, eight studio albums in all. She won a Libera Award for video of the year and shared a 2023 Oscar nomination in the best original song category. Mitski writes intimate, emotionally direct songs and delivers them in theatrical, tightly choreographed concerts that have made her one of indie rock's most devoted live draws.
