Book Mike Weir

Mike Weir is a Canadian professional golfer and national sports hero whose victory at the 2003 Masters Tournament stands as the lone major title ever won by a Canadian man. A left-hander from Sarnia, Ontario, he won the Ontario Junior Championship in 1988 and the Ontario Amateur in 1990 and 1992, and earned All-American honors while studying at Brigham Young University. He turned pro in 1992, won three times on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour, and fought his way onto the PGA Tour, regaining his card as medalist at the final Qualifying School. His first PGA Tour victory came at the 1999 Air Canada Championship in British Columbia, the first win by a Canadian at a PGA Tour event on home soil in 45 years. He took The Tour Championship in a 2001 playoff, then opened 2003 with wins including the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic before his triumph at Augusta. Between 2001 and 2005 he spent 110-plus weeks in the world top ten. Weir is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario and entered the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 2009. He competes today on the PGA Tour Champions.
