Book Lit

Lit are an American rock band from Orange County, California, best known for the late-'90s anthem "My Own Worst Enemy." Their roots go back to the late 1980s, when brothers A. Jay and Jeremy Popoff, bassist Kevin Baldes and drummer Allen Shellenberger came together in the pop-metal group Razzle, playing their first show at the Troubadour in 1988 before reshaping into Lit. After the 1997 album Tripping the Light Fantastic, the band signed with RCA Records in 1998 and broke through with A Place in the Sun (1999), whose singles "My Own Worst Enemy," "Zip-Lock" and "Miserable" became staples of rock radio and MTV. They followed with Atomic (2001) and a self-titled album in 2004, then returned with The View From the Bottom (2012), These Are the Days (2017) and Tastes Like Gold (2022). Across seven studio albums, Lit have kept their signature blend of punchy guitars, big hooks and sunny Southern California attitude. Their live sets are loud, fun and packed with sing-along moments, built on the hits that defined an era of alternative rock and newer songs that carry the same energy.
