Book Kevin Systrom

Kevin Systrom is an American computer programmer and entrepreneur who co-founded Instagram with Mike Krieger and led it as chief executive through its rise into a cultural phenomenon. After Stanford he joined Google for two years in product marketing, contributing to products including Gmail, Google Calendar and Docs. He then built the prototype of Burbn, a location check-in app, raised seed funding from Baseline Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz, and with Krieger turned it into the photo-sharing app that became Instagram, adding the filters that made phone pictures look polished. Systrom personally designed the X-Pro II filter, which is still part of the app. Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012 when the company had just thirteen employees, and under his leadership the service grew to 800 million monthly users by September 2017. He stepped down as CEO in September 2018 and later co-founded Artifact, a personalized news app. As a speaker, Systrom shares a builder's view of product simplicity, design taste, startup focus and how a small team can create something used by billions of people around the world.
