Book Ken Griffey Jr.

Ken Griffey Jr., "Junior" and "the Kid," is the Hall of Fame center fielder whose sweet swing and backwards cap made him the face of baseball in the 1990s. Seattle took him first overall in the 1987 draft, and over 22 major league seasons he starred for the Mariners and Cincinnati Reds, with a brief stop with the Chicago White Sox. He was a 13-time All-Star, won ten Gold Gloves for his highlight-reel defense, collected seven Silver Slugger Awards and was named American League MVP in 1997. He hit 630 home runs, seventh on the all-time list, and is tied for the longest streak of consecutive games with a homer, at eight. Griffey was named to the Major League Baseball All-Century Team in 1999, won Comeback Player of the Year in 2005 and received the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award in 2011. He is enshrined in both the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame and the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum, and in 2016 he entered the Baseball Hall of Fame with 99.32 percent of the vote, a record at the time. He brings joy, nostalgia and genuine star power to any appearance.
