Book Jasper Pääkkönen

Jasper Pääkkönen is a Finnish actor who spent two decades as a box office draw at home before breaking out internationally. He made his film debut at seven in The Glory and Misery of Human Life (1988) and became a household name in Finland as Saku Salin on the soap opera Salatut elämät from 1999 to 2002. Many of his films have opened at number one in Finland, including Bad Boys, a domestic box office giant that also won him Best Actor at the Brussels International Independent Film Festival. His other hits include Frozen Land (2005), Matti: Hell Is for Heroes (2006), Lapland Odyssey (2010), Naked Harbour (2012) and Heart of a Lion (2013), and he received the Jussi Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2014. In 2006 European Film Promotion presented him as Finland's Shooting Star at the Berlin International Film Festival. Global audiences discovered him as the Viking warlord Halfdan the Black on the historical drama Vikings, and he went on to appear in Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman (2018) and Da 5 Bloods (2020), as well as The Dark Tower. Pääkkönen brings rugged charisma and a rare blend of Nordic and Hollywood experience.
