Book Eugene Kaspersky

Eugene Kaspersky is a Russian cybersecurity pioneer, born 4 October 1965, who co-founded Kaspersky Lab in 1997 and has led it as CEO since 2007, building it into an IT security company with thousands of employees worldwide. Trained in mathematical engineering and computer technology with a focus on cryptology, he became fascinated with computer security in 1989 when the Cascade virus infected his work PC; he took the malware apart and wrote a program to remove it, then kept hunting new viruses as a hobby. In 1991 he moved to the Information Technology Center at the private company KAMI to work on antivirus software full-time, and the team's product launched in 1992 as Antiviral Toolkit Pro. As head of research he helped expose instances of state-sponsored cyberwarfare, and he has championed an international treaty to ban it. He also co-founded the data protection company InfoWatch. His honors include the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 2009 and a Friendship Award. As a speaker, Kaspersky offers a rare founder's view of the history of computer viruses, the evolving threat landscape and what it takes to protect people and organizations online.
