En Vogue is the Oakland R&B vocal group known for tight four-part harmonies and award-winning videos. Formed in 1989 by singers Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Terry Ellis and Dawn Robinson, they reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Hold On" from their debut album, Born to Sing (1990). Funky Divas (1992) debuted at number one on Billboard's R&B albums chart and delivered "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)," another number-two pop hit, plus the top-ten singles "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" and "Free Your Mind." They joined Salt-N-Pepa on the top-ten hit "Whatta Man" in 1993, and "Don't Let Go (Love)," from the 1996 film Set It Off, became their third song to peak at number two. Their run brought seven MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, Soul Train Music Awards and seven Grammy nominations. Later albums include EV3, Masterpiece Theatre, Soul Flower and Electric Café (2018). Founding members Ellis and Herron continue to lead the group, which counts six number-one singles on the Billboard R&B chart.
