Book Echo & the Bunnymen
Liverpool rock band Echo & the Bunnymen came together in 1978 around vocalist Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant on guitar and Les Pattinson on bass, with drummer Pete de Freitas joining a year later. Their atmospheric post-punk debut, Crocodiles (1980), made an immediate impression, and Heaven Up Here (1981) deepened their cult following. Mainstream success arrived with Porcupine (1983) and its hit "The Cutter," and then Ocean Rain (1984), the lush, orchestral record that gave the world "The Killing Moon," a post-punk classic. After a self-titled album in 1987, McCulloch departed and Reverberation (1990) appeared with singer Noel Burke. McCulloch and Sergeant later worked together as Electrafixion before reuniting with Pattinson under the Bunnymen name in 1997 for Evergreen. Records since then include What Are You Going to Do With Your Life? (1999), Flowers (2001), Siberia (2005), The Fountain (2009), Meteorites (2014), The Stars, the Oceans & the Moon (2018) and Apples for Isaac (2026). The band have twice headlined the Rockaway Beach Festival, and live they deliver brooding guitars, McCulloch's dramatic vocals and a set of dark, sweeping anthems.
