Earl Sweatshirt is the Los Angeles rapper and producer whose dense, introspective style has made him a favorite of critics and fellow artists since he emerged with Odd Future as a teenager. Born Thebe Kgositsile, the son of South African poet Keorapetse Kgositsile, he first rapped as Sly Tendencies before Tyler, the Creator brought him into Odd Future in 2009. His mixtape Earl (2010), released when he was 16, drew wide acclaim. He earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year as a featured artist on Frank Ocean's Channel Orange, and his debut album, Doris (2013), released through Columbia, reached the top five of the Billboard 200. I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside (2015) and the self-produced Some Rap Songs (2018) both made the top 20 and further cemented his reputation. After signing with Warner Records he released the Feet of Clay EP (2019) and SICK! (2022), followed by VOIR DIRE, a collaboration with the Alchemist (2023), Live Laugh Love (2025) and POMPEII // UTILITY (2026). Known for abstract, sample-heavy production and densely layered writing, Earl brings a devoted following to his shows.
