Book Cypress Hill
Cypress Hill became the first hip-hop group with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019, honoring a run that made them pioneers of West Coast rap and one of the first Latino groups to break through in the genre. Formed in South Gate, California, in 1988 by B-Real, Sen Dog and DJ Muggs, the group took its name from a local street and signed with Ruffhouse Records. Their 1991 debut produced "How I Could Just Kill a Man" and the bilingual "Latin Lingo," a mix of English and Spanish that has run through their catalog ever since. Black Sunday (1993) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and "Insane in the Brain" crossed over to the Hot 100 and earned the first of their three Grammy nominations. They headlined Lollapalooza in 1995, appeared on The Simpsons episode "Homerpalooza" and followed with III: Temples of Boom, IV, and Skull & Bones, which paired rap with rock and gave them "(Rock) Superstar." Percussionist Eric Bobo joined during the Black Sunday era. Later albums include Till Death Do Us Part, Rise Up, Elephants on Acid, Back in Black (2022) and Dios Bendiga (2026).
