Book Clipse
Clipse are the Virginia Beach hip-hop duo of brothers Gene "Malice" Thornton and Terrence "Pusha T" Thornton, admired for sharp wordplay and some of the most acclaimed production in rap. Formed in 1994, they were discovered by fellow Virginia Beach native Pharrell Williams, who produced their early work with the Neptunes and signed them as the first act on his Star Trak label. Their debut studio album Lord Willin' (2002) reached number four on the Billboard 200 behind the hits "Grindin'" (2002) and "When the Last Time" (2002). Hell Hath No Fury (2006) became a critics' favorite for its stark, minimal beats, and Til the Casket Drops followed in 2009. After years of solo work, with Pusha T becoming a major artist in his own right, the brothers reunited for Let God Sort Em Out (2025), which earned strong reviews. The single "Chains & Whips" won them the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance, part of five career nominations. On stage they bring tight back-and-forth chemistry and a catalog that many fans and rappers consider essential.
