Book Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes, an American entrepreneur and writer, was a co-founder of Facebook and its spokesman in the company's formative years. Recruited by Mark Zuckerberg while both were at Harvard, he spent the summer of 2004 with him in Palo Alto, later rejoined the team after graduating, and handled beta testing and product feedback. He pushed for giving each school its own network to keep the site feeling close-knit, and he helped drive many of the features that paved the way for opening Facebook to everyone. He left the company in 2007. In 2009 he became an entrepreneur in residence at venture firm General Catalyst, and in 2010 he founded Jumo, a nonprofit social network for people looking to support causes. From 2012 to 2016 he was publisher and editor-in-chief of The New Republic, and in 2016 he co-founded the Economic Security Project. His books are Fair Shot: Rethinking Inequality and How We Earn (2018) and Marketcrafters: The 100-year Struggle to Shape the American Economy (2025). Hughes speaks thoughtfully on technology, the early days of social media, economic fairness and how markets are shaped by policy.
