Book Jerry Yang
Jerry Yang is a Taiwanese-born American computer programmer, internet entrepreneur and venture capitalist best known as the co-founder of Yahoo!, one of the defining companies of the early web. In 1994, while a student at Stanford, he and David Filo built a directory of websites called Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web. As its audience grew, they renamed it Yahoo!, and the site was drawing around 100,000 unique visitors by that fall. The company secured backing from Sequoia Capital in 1995, with Yang and Filo each taking the title "Chief Yahoo," and it went public in April 1996 with just 49 employees. In 1999 MIT Technology Review named Yang to its TR100 list of top innovators under 35. He later stepped in as Yahoo! CEO from 2007 to 2009 and left the company in 2012. Yang then founded the venture firm AME Cloud Ventures and has served on several corporate boards. He received the Great Immigrants Award in 2007. Admired as a founder, strategist and mentor, Yang speaks with firsthand authority on entrepreneurship, the birth of the internet, venture investing and technology's next chapter.
