Book CJ McCollum
CJ McCollum is an American professional basketball player, a smooth-scoring guard now with the Atlanta Hawks, and a respected leader among his peers who served as president of the National Basketball Players Association from 2021 to 2025. Growing up in Canton, Ohio, he made the varsity at GlenOak High School as an undersized freshman, then grew nine inches over the next two years. He scored 54 points in his first game as a junior, setting school and Stark County records, averaged 29.3 points as a senior and finished as the program's career scoring leader, earning Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year for 2008 to 2009. At Lehigh University he twice earned Patriot League Player of the Year honors, in 2010 and again in 2012. The Portland Trail Blazers drafted him tenth overall in 2013, and in 2016 he won the NBA Most Improved Player Award. Later trades sent him to New Orleans in 2022, Washington in 2025 and Atlanta in 2026. McCollum brings an inspiring underdog story, a thoughtful voice on the business of basketball and a player-leader's perspective.
